Birth of Holmes Sterling Morrison Jr. in Westbury, N.Y., on Long Island.

1965-71
Records and performs with The Velvet Underground.

1971
Quits the post-Lou VU and moves to Austin, pursuing a Ph.D. in the University of Texas' English departement.

1975
Joins an Austin-based bar band called The Bizarros.

Late 70s
Begins working on tugboats in the Houston Ship Channel, receives his doctorate in medieval studies, and earns his captain's license.

June 15, 1990
Velvet Underground reunion at the Fondation Cartier.

1992-94
Records and tours with Moe Tucker and band.

1993
Velvet Underground European reunion tour.

February 11-12, 1994
Plays electric guitar with the Hudson Valley Philarmonic Chamber Orchestra performing The New Wave conducted by Randall Craig Fleischer.

November 18-19, 1994
Last live performance at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, with John Cale and Moe Tucker.

August 30, 1995
Sterling dies in Poughkeepsie NY.
